Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineer focused on medium- and high-voltage power systems for renewable projects. The role involves design, analysis, and coordination across offices, with opportunities for mentorship and project leadership.

Requirements include a PE license or progression toward it, along with 5+ years of consulting in HV design. Travel and extended hours may be needed to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
• PE licensure or ability to obtain within six months is required.
• Minimum 5 years of consulting experience in medium-/high-voltage power design.
• Experience preparing drawings, specs, and submittals for power projects.
• Graduate degree or professional registrations are a plus.
• General Contractor License is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design medium- and high-voltage power distribution for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS, EV charging, microgrids).
• Conduct traditional transmission and distribution design (underground and overhead).
• Prepare specifications, calculations, drawings, and full construction packages for 15–200 kV systems.
• Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure standards compliance.
• Provide technical support to field personnel for systems up to 200 kV.
• Perform electrical studies: short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, PF, relay coordination.
• Collaborate with civil/structural teams and coordinate across offices.
• Conduct due diligence, feasibility, and interconnection studies; prepare master plan reports.
• Participate in project management: client meetings, design coordination, shop drawings, construction administration.
• Mentor Power Market team members; travel occasionally for engagements.
