Job summary

Axon is seeking a Principal Hardware Systems Architect focused on communications hardware. This hybrid role requires leading system architecture across electrical, RF, mechanical, and thermal domains, guiding cross-functional teams from concept through mass production.

You will drive technical standards, validation strategies, and certification plans, partnering with EE, RF, SW, and ME leaders to deliver scalable, production-ready hardware for Axon’s 911 platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hardware engineering experience with system-level ownership.
• Proven ability to drive cross-disciplinary decisions for complex hardware.
• Experience taking compact, battery-powered hardware from concept to mass production.
• Deep experience in RF/antenna integration, power, thermal, EMI/EMC, and enclosure design.
• Ability to communicate technical risk to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop system architecture spanning electrical, RF, mechanical, thermal, and power domains.
• Define requirements, drive cross-functional design decisions, and ensure production readiness.
• Lead design reviews, manage risk, and ensure certification and regulatory alignment.
• Collaborate with EE, RF, SW, and ME leads to meet constraints and budgets.
