Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior System Protection Engineer to join our Grid Services team. You will lead the development and application of protection philosophies and settings for transmission lines, transformers, buses, and capacitor banks, and perform system protection studies including short‑circuit analysis and relay coordination.

You will configure microprocessor‑based relays with vendor software, manage relay records in Powerbase, and support field energization and commissioning

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree with protection focus.
• 7+ years of system protection engineering experience for transmission/substation projects.
• Experience with protection studies and relay settings development.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection philosophies and settings for transmission lines, transformers, buses, and capacitor banks.
• Perform short-circuit analysis and relay coordination studies.
• Configure and troubleshoot microprocessor relays using vendor software.
• Review P&C design documents including one-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Support commissioning and field energization activities.
