Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead System Protection Engineer to join the Grid Services team. You will oversee relay settings, protection philosophies, and power system studies, while supporting substation P&C design for high‑voltage projects.

The role includes reviewing drawings, coordinating with utility clients and manufacturers, and guiding field commissioning. Hybrid work is offered with relocation possibilities depending on location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program (or equivalent).
• 10+ years of experience in system protection engineering for transmission/substation projects.
• Experience with relay settings and protection studies.
• Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI/NERC/PRC standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead system protection engineering including relay settings and protection studies.
• Review and support substation protection & control design.
• Configure and troubleshoot microprocessor‑based protective relays.
• Develop P&C design documents and coordinate with design teams.
• Support commissioning and field energization activities.
