Job summary

ABB is seeking a Senior Technical Business Developer to expand the Grid Automation portfolio in the U.S. This remote role reports to the Product Marketing Director and focuses on market strategy, technical engagement, and standards influence.

Location preference for Cary, NC or Houston, TX, with up to 30% travel. The ideal candidate has 9+ years in technical business development, deep utility market knowledge, and experience with SaaS models in energy.

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related field.
9+ years of experience in technical business development, preferably in grid automation or power systems.
Strong understanding of U.S. utility market dynamics and standards (IEEE, IEC 61850) and digital substation architectures.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with SaaS or subscription-based business models in energy.
Familiarity with DERMS, DLR, and network state estimation technologies.
Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

Market strategy leadership to identify new opportunities and shape market penetration for grid automation in the U.S.
Technical engagement as grid automation SME; lead presales activities and support solution design across architectures and integration workflows.
Contribute to standards development (IEEE, IEC) and represent ABB in industry forums.
Build strategic partnerships and relay field insights to evolve offerings like SSC600, SMU600, and CogniEN.
