Job summary

ABB is seeking a Senior Technical Business Developer to lead the expansion of the Grid Automation portfolio in the U.S. market. This remote role, with preference for Cary, NC or Houston, TX, reports to the Product Marketing Director and focuses on utility engagement and solution development.

You will drive market strategy, lead technical activities, and influence standards while building strategic partnerships across the ecosystem. Travel up to 30% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
• 9+ years in technical business development, preferably grid automation/power systems.
• Deep understanding of US utility market dynamics and standards (IEEE, IEC 61850).
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with SaaS or subscription models in energy sector.
• Familiarity with DERMS, DLR, and network state estimation.
• Travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Market strategy leadership to drive US growth and identify new utility opportunities.
• Technical engagement as grid automation SME; lead presales activities and support solution design.
• Contribute to IEEE/IEC working groups and shape grid automation standards.
