Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal FPGA Design Engineer for Tucson, AZ, onsite, to develop FPGA designs across major devices (Xilinx, Altera, Microsemi) with VHDL/Verilog. The role emphasizes architecture, verification, and documentation within the Effector Digital Products team.

You will work closely with systems engineers, drive requirements, and deliver robust FPGA solutions for defense applications, with an emphasis on reliability and maintainability. A DoD Secret clearance is required to start.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• FPGA/ASIC design (VHDL and/or Verilog coding) or FPGA/ASIC verification (SystemVerilog coding).
• Xilinx or Microsemi devices and flow tools.
• Delivering FPGA/ASIC solutions to system level applications.
• Hands on experience with integration and debug of FPGA/ASIC devices.

Responsibilities

• Deliver production-quality FPGA releases from initial proof of concept to production.
• Architect FPGA-based systems to determine parts, interfaces, and CONOPS.
• Translate system-level requirements into FPGA requirements.
• Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability.
• Verify designs utilizing directed tests and constrained random tests, tracking coverage.
• Drive projects and execute schedules on time and budget.
• Create complete documentation including requirements, verification plans, and user guides.
• Manage moderately sized projects or processes.
• Act as subject-matter expert within the discipline.
• Coach and delegate work to junior engineers.
• Support internal and external technical reviews and customer interactions.
