Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal FPGA Design Engineer to develop FPGA designs for major vendors, with VHDL/Verilog coding, for DoD-grade weapon systems. You will work in the Effector Digital Products department, collaborating with circuit card designers and systems engineers.

The role requires a DoD security clearance and is 100% onsite in Tucson, AZ. You will lead design, verification, and documentation efforts across multiple device families, and mentor junior engineers while engaging in customer

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in FPGA/ASIC design (VHDL/Verilog) or verification (SystemVerilog).
• Hands-on with FPGA/ASIC integration, debugging, and debug tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver production-quality FPGA releases from proof of concept to production.
• Architect FPGA-based systems to select parts and CONOPS.
• Translate system requirements into FPGA requirements.
• Design and code in VHDL for reliability and maintainability.
• Verify designs using directed tests and constrained random testing.
• Drive projects and manage schedules within budget.
• Create documentation including requirements, verification plans, and user guides.
• Manage moderately sized projects or processes and mentor juniors.
• Support internal/external technical reviews and customer interactions.
• Improve processes, systems or products to boost performance.
