Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Sr. Field Technician to lead field crews, manage complex testing and maintenance projects, and serve as the primary interface with customers and engineering teams on substation work.

The role requires deep technical expertise across high, medium, and low voltage equipment, strong safety leadership, and the ability to plan, coordinate, and report on large-scale field activities to ensure safe, reliable, and high‑quality execution.

Qualifications

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen due to safety sensitive position.
  • Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Lead crews in testing, inspection, maintenance, and commissioning of high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment.
  • Install, test, and maintain electrical apparatus including circuit breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding, battery systems, and switchgear.
  • Perform and lead complex troubleshooting of electrical and control systems, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.
  • Analyze test results to validate system performance and identify deficiencies.
  • Consult schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and engineering resources to optimize equipment functionality.
  • Direct repair, replacement, and maintenance activities to ensure reliable restoration of equipment and systems.
  • Develop testing plans, procedures, and work scopes for electrical apparatus and commissioning activities.
  • Prepare, review, and approve detailed reports documenting testing, maintenance, repairs, and system performance.
