Job summary

ZEISS Group in the United States is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to service, install, troubleshoot, and repair highly complex ZEISS equipment at customer sites. The role requires independent problem-solving, minimizes downtime, and serves as a technical resource for customers and other service engineers.

You will perform installations domestically and internationally, build strong customer relationships, and contribute to improving financial performance through technical leadership

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent technician training in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, engineering, a natural science, or a related technical field; a bachelor's degree from a university of applied sciences or comparable institution is preferred.
• Three to five years of relevant professional experience in a field service or technical service environment.
• Experience servicing automated systems; experience with electron- or ion-beam systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair highly complex equipment and accessories across the assigned portfolio.
• Diagnose mechanical, hardware, software, and system failures and develop practical solutions for customer needs.
• Coordinate and implement complex technical solutions to minimize customer downtime.
• Provide advanced technical support to customers, colleagues, and cross-functional teams.
• Perform installation, maintenance, and repair activities domestically and internationally.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and sales teams for technically complex applications.
• Apply knowledge of customer drivers and KPIs to improve financial performance and identify opportunities.
• Plan and deliver complex technical training for customers and employees.
• Guide and support new or less experienced team members with technical knowledge.
• Serve as local subject-matter expert and primary contact for designated products or topics.
• Prepare, adapt, and maintain technical documentation and spare-parts lists.
• Complete service, expense, quality reports, and other required documentation on time.
• Exercise independent judgment in selecting methods and criteria for effective service outcomes.
• Support multiple product markets and provide technical insights for longer-term goals.
