Job summary

ZEISS Group is seeking a Field Service Engineer Level 2 in the Pittsburgh area to install, service and maintain complex automated systems for our customers. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure high reliability of equipment on site.

Applicants should have 3–5 years in field service, and a technical degree or certificate. Strong communication, safety knowledge, and travel readiness are essential in this customer-facing role.

Qualifications

• Must hold a 4-year degree or technical certificate in a technical/scientific field.
• 3–5 years of professional field service experience.
• Knowledge of BSL-1/2/3 safety and handling of biohazards.
• Able to troubleshoot software, electronics, optics, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Read and understand electrical/mechanical schematics and manuals.
• Valid U.S. driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Install, service and maintain ZEISS equipment at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot issues, diagnose repairs in the field, aim to fix in one visit.
• Manage SVOs, spare parts, and accurate billable quotations within deadlines.
• Perform PMs for contract customers within 90 days of SVO assignment.
• Escalate unresolved issues promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Educate customers on upgrades and pass leads to appropriate channels.
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 50% as required.
