Job summary

Travelers Insurance is seeking an Outside Auto Appraiser to inspect damaged vehicles, estimate repair costs, and settle total losses. The role is remote with work at residential or commercial locations and occasional office presence.

You will assess damage, review estimates, negotiate settlements, and support claim professionals while delivering strong customer service. A valid driver’s license and auto appraisal experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher required.
• Active adjuster license, where applicable.
• Two years of auto physical damage appraisal experience.
• Proficient in claims management and estimating software; strong MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess vehicle damage via virtual or on-site inspections at body shops or customer locations.
• Prepare repair estimates; determine parts, labor, and material costs.
• Evaluate total losses by calculating actual cash value through market research and comparables.
• Negotiate repair costs and settlements with shops, customers, and third parties.
• Document pre-existing damage, prior repairs, and potential fraud indicators.
