Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an Outside Auto Appraiser to inspect damaged vehicles, estimate repair costs, and determine the actual cash value for settlements. This remote role supports claims with technical vehicle-damage expertise and collaboration with repair shops, within a national scope.

Ideal candidates will have auto appraisal experience, an adjuster license, and proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Active adjuster license required where applicable.
• Two years auto physical damage appraisal experience.
• Proficient in claims management and estimating software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Sound judgment and decision-making.
• Exceptional customer service in the claim process.
• Attention to detail and organization in a fast-paced environment.
• Conflict resolution and productive discussion facilitation.
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess vehicle damage via on-site or virtual inspections.
• Review estimates and collaborate with repair facilities for accuracy.
• Prepare repair estimates for parts, labor, and materials.
• Determine actual cash value and settle total losses using market data.
• Negotiate with body shops, customers, and third parties for timely resolutions.
• Document existing damage and potential fraud indicators.
• Coordinate with claim teams, shops, and vendors to authorize repairs.
• Explain the process to customers and keep them informed throughout the lifecycle.
• Adapt to new technology and digital tool rollouts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
