Job summary

Travelers is seeking an Outside Auto Appraiser to inspect damaged vehicles, estimate repair costs, and determine actual cash value for total losses. This remote role requires technical expertise, strong customer service, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree as a baseline credential.
• Active adjuster license, where applicable.
• Two years of auto physical damage appraisal experience.
• Proficient in claims management and estimating software, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and make effective decisions.
• One year of auto physical damage appraisal or comparable claim related experience or completion of Travelers Claim Representative training program.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess vehicle damage by on-site or virtual inspections at body shops or customer locations.
• Review estimates and coordinate with repair facilities for consistency and quality.
• Prepare accurate repair estimates using standard estimating software.
• Evaluate and settle vehicle total losses via actual cash value through market research.
• Negotiate repair costs and settlements to reach timely resolutions.
• Identify pre-existing damage, prior repairs, and potential fraud indicators.
• Collaborate with claim representatives, body shops, and vendors to coordinate repairs and resolve coverage issues.
• Provide excellent customer service by explaining the process and guiding claims to resolution.
• Adapt to new technology and AI tooling while maintaining productivity.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
