Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Senior Safety Coordinator to support project teams in implementing environmental, safety, and health standards at the site level. This role demands a strong foundation in construction safety practices and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

You will partner with the ESH Manager and project teams to enforce OSHA standards, conduct safety orientations, investigations, training, and audits, while promoting a culture of "The Layton Way" and Constructing

Qualifications

• BA/BS preferred with a minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or industrial health and safety programs.
• Demonstrated practical knowledge and documented continuing education in construction safety.
• OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry certification.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification with completion within the last two years.
• Completed OSHA 30-hour training for construction AND Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, with strong organization and grammar.
• Ability to perform essential job duties accurately and safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Proficient in understanding and conveying English commands, questions, and safety-related instructions.
• Devoted to continuous learning and demonstrates a strong commitment to developing and maintaining core ESH competencies.

Responsibilities

• Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Upholds Constructing with Integrity by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Monitors safety conditions and enforces OSHA and Layton policies.
• Assists the ESH Manager in investigating accidents and collecting initial data.
• Monitors workers’ compensation issues and reports timely information.
• Conducts or assists site safety orientations.
• Participates in pre-construction meetings highlighting safety needs and issues.
• Assists project teams with injury management to ensure cost-effective medical care.
• Conducts industrial hygiene surveys to detect gases and noise, and conducts respirator fit tests.
• Supports VP-Field Ops and HR to ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Compensation law.
• Provides safety-related training to site employees and subcontractor personnel.
• Participates in monthly corporate Safety Committee meetings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
