Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Senior Safety Coordinator to actively support project teams in implementing environmental, safety, and health standards at the site level. The role requires a strong foundation in construction safety and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

The position involves monitoring safety conditions, investigating incidents with the ESH Manager, conducting site orientations, and providing training to employees and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• BA/BS preferred with a minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or industrial health and safety programs.
• Demonstrated practical knowledge and documented continuing education in the field of construction safety.
• OSHA 510 certificate – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification within last two years.
• OSHA 30-hour construction training and Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate in English clearly and accurately.
• Commitment to continuous learning and developing core ESH competencies.

Responsibilities

• Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures that “Constructing with Integrity” is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Monitors safety conditions and enforces OSHA and Layton Construction standards and policies.
• Assists the ESH Manager in accidents and near-miss investigations and data collection.
• Monitors workers’ compensation issues and reports timely information to the ESH Manager.
• Conducts onsite safety orientations for project teams.
• Participates in pre-construction meetings highlighting safety needs and issues.
• Assists with injury management to ensure cost-effective medical care.
• Conducts industrial hygiene surveys and respirator fit tests as needed.
• Supports VP-Field Operations and HR to ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Compensation laws.
• Delivers safety-related training to employees and subcontractors at the site level.
• Participates in monthly corporate Safety Committee meetings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
