Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in the United States to own mechanical design from concept through production. You will use SolidWorks and ANSYS Workbench to create robust designs, perform analyses, and develop technical documentation.

You will work with cross-functional teams to meet customer, cost, and schedule requirements. The role emphasizes manufacturability, reliability, and cost optimization across the product lifecycle, including MRO considerations and design

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 3 years of experience, or 9 years without a degree.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks; experience with ANSYS Workbench strongly preferred.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Design and review mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks, balancing performance, cost, manufacturability, safety, and quality requirements.
• Perform thermal and structural analyses using ANSYS Workbench to evaluate product performance and support design decisions.
• Conduct fatigue and durability assessments, including stress-life and strain-life methodologies, to develop product life predictions.
• Develop technical documentation and engineering reports and participate in design reviews.
• Collaborate within IPTs to meet customer expectations, quality standards, and business objectives.
• Apply DFMA principles to optimize designs for efficient production.
