Job summary

Jacobs seeks an Electrical SME to shape electrical infrastructure strategy for hyperscale data centers, from utility interconnection to IT equipment receptacle and 20-60+ kW per rack density. You will provide technical leadership, mentor staff, and participate in industry forums.

You will work with cross-functional teams, support IST commissioning, and drive design-build governance while ensuring NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards compliance across programs.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree; Master’s preferred.
• Active Electrical PE licensure in at least one U.S. state.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering; 15+ years focused on mission-critical data center design.
• Power systems proficiency: MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling, transfer switching, and redundancy.
• Tools proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower; short-circuit analysis and arc flash per IEEE 1584.
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA, IEEE standards and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients including MV/LV distribution and redundancy strategies.
• Drive full power chain from MV switchgear through UPS, generator paralleling, and busway; oversee studies and coordination.
• Champion innovations in power efficiency and AI/GPU density; maintain Jacobs' electrical standards and calculation libraries.
• Provide technical governance across disciplines; review calculations, drawings, and submittals for code compliance.
• Mentor electrical engineers and participate in industry groups and external publications.
