Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical SME to shape electrical infrastructure strategy for hyperscale data centers, from utility interconnection through IT equipment receptacle, MV/LV distribution, UPS topology and generator paralleling.

This role blends deep power systems expertise with client-facing leadership, mentorship, and governance across design-build and EPCM delivery, ensuring NEC/NFPA/IEEE compliance and ongoing innovation.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelors in Electrical Engineering.
• Active Electrical PE license in at least one U.S. state.
• 20+ years professional electrical engineering; 15+ years in data center/mission-critical design.
• Proven MV/LV distribution design, UPS topology, generator paralleling, transfer switching, and redundancy for Tier III/IV facilities.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower; short-circuit studies, protective coordination, arc flash analysis (IEEE 1584), load flow modeling.
• Codes and standards: NEC, NFPA 70/110/72, IEEE 3000-series, NESC, IEC, Uptime Institute Tier.
• Tools & Delivery: AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud; manage design intent in DB/EPCM.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients—MV/LV distribution and redundancy strategies.
• Drive full power chain from MV switchgear through UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, PDUs and busway; oversee power studies.
• Champion innovations in efficiency, BESS integration, renewables, AI/GPU density scaling, and develop Jacobs electrical standards.
• Provide technical governance across teams; review calculations, drawings, submittals and support IST/commissioning.
