Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Electrical SME for hyperscale data centers. You will shape electrical infrastructure from utility interconnection through IT receptacle, MV/LV distribution, UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, and protection coordination.

You will lead technical governance across disciplines, mentor engineers, and represent Jacobs at client workshops and industry forums. This role combines hands-on design-build with strategic pursuit, requiring NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Active Electrical PE licensure in at least one U.S. state.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering; 15+ years in data center design.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, short-circuit studies, arc flash per IEEE 1584.
• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70/110/72, IEEE 3000-series, NESC.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients and MV/LV distribution architecture.
• Drive full power chain from MV to UPS, generator paralleling, and protection coordination.
• Develop Jacobs' electrical standards, master specs, and calculation libraries.
• Provide technical governance for deliverables across discipline teams and partners.
• Support commissioning and IST of critical power systems and mentor staff.
