Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical SME to shape electrical infrastructure strategy for hyperscale data centers, from utility interconnection through IT equipment receptacle. You will lead power systems design, oversee studies, and mentor engineers while engaging with clients and GID partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program; Master’s degree preferred.
• PE license active in at least one U.S. state; licensure required.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering experience; 15+ years in data center or advanced technology facility design.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower.
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA, IEEE 3000-series, NESC, IEC, and Uptime Institute Tier criteria.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients — defining MV/LV distribution architecture and utility interconnection approaches.
• Drive the full power chain from MV switchgear through UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, PDUs, and busway; lead power systems studies like short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, and load flow modeling.
• Develop and maintain Jacobs' electrical standards, master specifications, and calculation libraries for data center practice.
• Provide technical governance for electrical deliverables across disciplines and partners; support commissioning and IST of critical power systems.
• Present at client workshops and industry forums; participate in RFPs and competitive presentations to translate power systems engineering into strategic narratives.
