Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an experienced Electrical SME to shape the electrical infrastructure strategy for hyperscale data centers. You will lead MV/LV distribution design, redundancy and utility interconnection, spanning from switchgear to UPS and generator paralleling.

You will mentor teams, standardize calculation libraries, and present technical positions at client workshops and industry forums while ensuring NEC/NFPA/IEEE compliance across projects.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree; Master’s preferred.
• PE license active in at least one U.S. state; NCEES paperwork in progress acceptable as reciprocal.
• 20+ years in electrical engineering; 15+ years in mission-critical data centers or advanced facilities.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools or EasyPower; arc flash analysis and short-circuit studies.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards and Uptime Institute Tier criteria; design-review experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, Bluebeam; BIM/ECM collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients; define MV/LV distribution and redundancy.
• Manage full power chain from MV switchgear to UPS, generators, transfer switches and busway.
• Run power systems studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow) with ETAP/SKM/EasyPower.
• Govern electrical deliverables; review calculations, drawings and submittals for code compliance.
• Represent Jacobs externally; present at client workshops and industry forums; contribute to RFPs.
• Mentor engineers, build reusable calculation libraries and reference designs.
• Balance strategic initiatives with hands-on delivery; ensure NEC/NFPA/IEEE compliance.
