Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Sr. Electrical SME to shape electrical infrastructure strategy for hyperscale data centers, spanning MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling, and fault analysis. You will guide design-build delivery, mentor engineers, and represent Jacobs in industry groups.

The role blends deep technical authority with client-facing leadership, and requires experience with large-scale data center power systems, standards development, and cross-team governance.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree; Master’s degree preferred.
• Active Electrical PE licensure in at least one U.S. state; NCEES record for reciprocal licensure is required.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering; 15+ years focused on mission-critical data center or advanced technology facility design.
• Proven expertise in MV/LV distribution design, UPS topology, generator sizing/paralleling, transfer switching, and redundancy architecture for Tier III/IV facilities.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower; short-circuit studies, protective device coordination, arc flash analysis (IEEE 1584), and load flow modeling.
• NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 110, NFPA 72, IEEE 3000-series, NESC, IEC, and Uptime Institute Tier requirements.
• Autocad Electrical, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud; manage design intent within Design-Build and EPCM contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning with hyperscale clients—define MV/LV distribution architecture and redundancy strategies; align with owner reliability and sustainability.
• Drive full power chain from MV switchgear through UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, PDUs, and busway; lead power systems studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow).
• Champion innovation in power efficiency, BESS integration, renewable energy, and AI/GPU power density scaling; develop and maintain Jacobs' electrical standards and specifications.
• Provide technical governance for electrical deliverables across discipline teams and partners; review calculations, drawings, and submittals for quality and code compliance; support IST.
