Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a senior Electrical SME for hyperscale data center projects across the U.S. You will lead power systems planning, MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, and generator paralleling, guiding design from utility interconnection to IT racks.

The role combines deep technical authority with client-facing leadership, mentoring, and governance across multi-discipline teams, ensuring NEC/IEEE compliance while pursuing innovation in energy density, BESS, renewables, and server-grade compute.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree required.
• Active Electrical PE licensure in at least one U.S. state.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering experience, with 15+ years in data centers or critical facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients — MV/LV distribution and redundancy strategies.
• Drive the full power chain from MV switchgear to UPS, generators, transfer switching, PDUs, and busway; perform short-circuit analysis and load-flow studies.
• Develop and maintain Jacobs' electrical standards, master specifications, and calculation libraries for the data center practice.
• Provide technical governance for electrical deliverables across discipline teams and support commissioning and IST of critical power systems.
• Represent Jacobs in client workshops, RFP responses, and industry forums; translate complex power systems engineering into strategic narratives for owner-side decisions.
• Mentor and coach electrical engineers and designers; promote design-build delivery while ensuring NEC/IEEE compliance.
