Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical SME to lead power-system design for hyperscale data centers, spanning MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling, and arc-flash safety. You will mentor teams and shape electrical strategies from utility interconnect to IT equipment receptacles.

You will advance standards, support commissioning, and engage clients in workshops and proposals, representing Jacobs’ electrical capabilities across major programs.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree; Master’s preferred.
• Active Electrical PE license in at least one U.S. state.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering; 15+ years focused on data center or mission-critical facility design.
• Proven expertise in MV/LV distribution design, UPS topology, generator paralleling, transfer switching, and redundancy architecture for Tier III/IV facilities.
• Power analysis tools proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower; short-circuit, arc flash analysis per IEEE 1584, and load-flow modeling.
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA/IEEE/NESC/IEC standards and Uptime Institute Tier criteria.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and Revit MEP; ability to manage design intent within Design-Build/EPCM contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning with hyperscale clients—define MV/LV distribution architecture and interconnection approaches.
• Drive the full power chain from MV switchgear through UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, PDUs, and busway; lead power systems studies.
• Develop and maintain Jacobs' electrical standards, master specifications, and calculation libraries for data center practice.
• Provide technical governance across disciplines; review calculations, drawings, and submittals for quality and code compliance; support IST/commissioning.
• Present at client workshops and industry forums; engage in RFP responses and competitive presentations.
• Mentor engineers and designers; contribute to industry publications and standards development.
