Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical SME to lead power systems strategy for hyperscale data center programs, from utility interconnection through IT equipment receptacle. You will shape MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling, and arc flash safety programs while mentoring teams across multidisciplinary projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE License active in at least one U.S. state is required.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering experience, 15+ years in mission-critical data center or advanced technology facility design.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower for short-circuit studies, protective device coordination, arc flash analysis, and load flow modeling.
• Knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 110, NFPA 72, IEEE 3000-series, NESC, IEC, and Uptime Institute Tier criteria.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients, defining MV/LV distribution architecture and redundancy strategies.
• Drive full power chain from MV switchgear through UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, PDUs, and busway; perform power systems studies.
• Provide technical governance for electrical deliverables and support commissioning and IST of critical power systems.
• Present at client workshops and industry forums; contribute to RFP responses and technical differentiations.
• Mentor engineers and designers; develop reusable calculation packages and reference designs.
