Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – SME to serve as a technical authority for electrical infrastructure supporting hyperscale, colocation, AI/HPC, and other mission-critical facilities.

You will shape electrical strategy from utility interconnection through the IT load, provide direction, reviews, client guidance, and mentorship, with opportunities to lead MV/LV distribution, switchgear, generators, UPS, and power studies.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering; M.S. preferred.
• Active Electrical PE license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 15–20+ years of electrical engineering experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Advanced expertise in MV/LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators and paralleling, UPS, and redundancy.
• Experience with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, or equivalent for power studies.
• Strong knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, IEEE 1584 and related standards.
• Leadership and delivery: ability to make complex technical decisions with clients and teams.
• Travel willingness up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Electrical architecture lead from utility service through IT load, setting basis of design and major decisions.
• Provide senior leadership for MV/LV distribution, substation work, transformers, generators and UPS.
• Lead or review power studies: load flow, short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash.
• Ensure design governance with independent reviews across project teams.
• Support project delivery from concept through turnover; address RFIs and field changes.
• Provide commissioning support for FAT/SAT, startup and integrated testing.
