Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical SME to lead power systems for hyperscale data centers, shaping MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, and generator paralleling. You will guide design through to commissioning, mentor engineers, and present at client workshops and industry forums.

You will influence project delivery with deep expertise in NEC/IEEE standards, 2N and N+1 redundancy, and modern power density challenges, while collaborating across multi-discipline teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program; Master’s preferred.
• PE license active in at least one U.S. state; NCEES record for reciprocity.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering; 15+ years in mission-critical data center or advanced technology facility design.
• Power systems expertise in MV/LV distribution design, UPS topology, generator paralleling, and redundancy for Tier III/IV facilities.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower; short-circuit studies and arc flash analysis per IEEE 1584; load flow modeling.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning with hyperscale clients; define MV/LV distribution architecture and interconnection approaches.
• Oversee power chain from MV switchgear through UPS, generators, transfer switches, and PDUs; conduct power systems studies.
• Develop Jacobs' electrical standards and calculation libraries for data center practice; review calculations and drawings for quality and compliance.
• Represent Jacobs externally at client workshops and industry forums; contribute to RFPs and technical differentiators.
• Mentor electrical engineers and designers; support commissioning and IST of critical power systems.
