Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a senior Electrical SME to lead design and governance of power systems for hyperscale data centers. You will shape MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling, and arc‑flash safety, guiding teams and interfacing with clients and partners.

This role emphasizes technical leadership, standards development, and mentoring across projects, with travel to project sites and client locations as needed.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• PE license active in at least one U.S. state; license is a condition of employment.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering; 15+ years in mission-critical data center or advanced technology facility design.
• Proven power systems expertise: MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling, transfer switching, and redundancy for Tier III/IV facilities.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower for short-circuit studies and arc flash analysis.
• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70/110/72, IEEE 3000-series, NESC, IEC and Uptime Institute standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, BIM 360; ability to deliver design-build/ECM projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for electrical design across hyperscale data center programs.
• Lead upfront power systems planning, MV/LV distribution, redundancy strategies, and utility interconnection approaches.
• Conduct power systems studies (short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, load flow).
• Govern electrical deliverables across disciplines and participate in commissioning and IST activities.
• Represent Jacobs at client workshops and industry forums; support RFP responses with technical differentiation.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to internal standards, reference designs, and reusable calculation libraries.
• Maintain compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards and industry best practices.
