Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical SME to lead power systems design for hyperscale data centers. You will shape MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling, and arc flash strategies while mentoring teams and driving technical governance across projects.

The role blends deep electrical engineering with client-facing leadership, strategic pursuit involvement, and collaboration with GID partners in a hybrid office environment across the U.S.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in electrical engineering; PE license required.
• 20+ years in electrical engineering; 15+ years in data center or mission-critical facilities.
• Experience with MV/LV distribution, UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, and redundancy for Tier III/IV.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower; short-circuit, arc flash, load flow.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards and design-build delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning with hyperscale clients—defining MV/LV distribution architecture and redundancy strategies.
• Drive the full power chain from MV switchgear through UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, PDUs, and busway; conduct power systems studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow).
• Provide technical governance for electrical deliverables; review calculations, drawings, and submittals; support commissioning and IST of critical power systems.
• Present at client workshops and contribute to proposals with clear technical differentiation; mentor delivery teams and influence standards.
