Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design of electrical systems for commercial and institutional buildings in Riverside, CA. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff to deliver innovative, code-compliant solutions.

Responsibilities include developing calculations, specs, and construction documents, reviewing submittals, and supporting business development while ensuring on-time, within-budget project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience focused on building systems design.
• Experience leading electrical system designs for commercial, institutional, civic, mixed-use, higher education, and other general building projects.
• Strong knowledge of the NEC, California Building Code, energy codes, and applicable industry standards.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical analysis and design software.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to comply with WSP's health, safety, drug/alcohol, and anti-harassment policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
• Serve as a discipline lead on projects, coordinating electrical engineering design activities from concept through construction.
• Prepare and oversee the development of engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, construction documents, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, and specialty disciplines.
• Participate in project planning, resource management, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control activities.
• Conduct site investigations, field assessments, and construction support activities.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contractor requests for compliance with project requirements.
• Interface directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout project execution.
• Support business development efforts, proposal preparation, and client relationship management activities.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior engineers and designers.
• Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, industry standards, and company quality requirements.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of projects on schedule and within budget.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
