WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Electrical Engineer for our Riverside, CA office. Be involved in projects with our Property & Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
This position will support the design, development, and delivery of electrical systems for a variety of commercial, mixed-use, civic, institutional, higher education, and other general building projects. The successful candidate will serve as a technical lead on projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.
Your Impact
- Lead the design and engineering of building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
- Serve as a discipline lead on projects, coordinating electrical engineering design activities from concept through construction.
- Prepare and oversee the development of engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, construction documents, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, and specialty disciplines.
- Participate in project planning, resource management, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control activities.
- Conduct site investigations, field assessments, and construction support activities.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contractor requests for compliance with project requirements.
- Interface directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout project execution.
- Support business development efforts, proposal preparation, and client relationship management activities.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior engineers and designers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, industry standards, and company quality requirements.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of projects on schedule and within budget.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience focused on building systems design.
- Demonstrated experience leading electrical system designs for commercial, institutional, civic, mixed-use, higher education, and other general building projects.
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), California Building Code, energy codes, and applicable industry standards.
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical analysis and design software.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to comply with WSP's health, safety, drug/alcohol, and anti-harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- PE license in California.
- Experience serving as a project discipline lead or task manager on complex building projects.
- Familiarity with SKM, ETAP, AGi32, Visual Lighting, or similar engineering software.
- Experience supporting projects throughout Southern California.
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) credential.
- Experience with sustainable building design, energy-efficient systems, and electrification initiatives.
- Previous consulting engineering experience in a multidisciplinary environment.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $100,800 - $147,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
