Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Riverside, CA to support the planning, design, and delivery of mechanical building systems across diverse projects including commercial, healthcare, higher education, and life sciences.

You'll work with experienced engineers, develop HVAC, plumbing, and related systems, and use Revit and AutoCAD to create drawings while contributing to project documents and client deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in mechanical or related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering or building systems design.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, and building systems design principles.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals and industry standards.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and analysis of mechanical building systems, including HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, and temperature control systems.
  • Support the preparation of engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Utilize engineering software to perform load calculations, energy analyses, and system layouts.
  • Develop and revise design drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, and other design platforms.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, and existing condition assessments.
  • Assist with construction administration activities, including reviewing submittals and RFIs, and site observations.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural/electrical engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support project managers and senior engineers in meeting schedules, budgets, and quality objectives.
  • Conduct research related to codes, standards and emerging technologies for mechanical building systems.
  • Contribute to client presentations and project deliverables.
  • Demonstrate ethical decision-making regarding funds and resources.
