Job summary

SSOE is seeking a mid-to-senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical systems design for automotive, battery, and industrial facilities, spanning from concept to commissioning.

You will serve as Engineer of Record, directing power distribution, infrastructure, and equipment integration while coordinating with clients and project teams to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
• 8+ years of electrical engineering experience supporting industrial or manufacturing facilities (10+ for senior role).
• Experience with automotive, battery manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, consumer products, food & beverage, chemical, or other industrial facilities.
• Strong understanding of facility electrical infrastructure including MV distribution, LV power systems, MCCs, switchgear, VFDs, backup power, grounding/bonding.
• Experience performing/ reviews electrical studies: load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, protective device coordination.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IBC, and applicable industrial design standards.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Strong client-facing communication and project leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and execution of electrical systems for automotive, manufacturing, battery, and industrial facility projects.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and technical lead on projects of varying complexity and size.
• Develop electrical power distribution systems from utility service through facility distribution networks.
• Prepare and review diagrams, power plans, equipment layouts, cable schedules, electrical room layouts, lighting, grounding, load calculations, and short-circuit studies.
• Design medium- and low-voltage power systems for industrial processes and facility infrastructure.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, controls, structural, civil, and architecture teams.
• Support facility expansion, modernization, and greenfield projects.
• Interface with clients to understand requirements and provide technical recommendations.
• Review vendor documentation and coordinate utility service requirements.
• Support equipment procurement, construction, startup, and commissioning.
• Lead design reviews, quality reviews, and constructability assessments.
• Develop project scopes, estimates, schedules, and staffing plans.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers; promote technical excellence.
• Support business development including proposals and client presentations.
