Job summary

Slack is building the future of edge services and relies on a small Distributed Data Services team to keep latency low for millions of API requests. You will design, build, and maintain edge caching that serves a large portion of Slack's traffic and ensure reliability at scale.

Collaborate with peers, review designs, mentor others, and participate in on-call rotations. Opportunities to work with Go, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS while delivering secure, scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Eng or related field.
• 6+ years building large-scale systems.
• Experience maintaining production infrastructure and uptime.
• Experience with distributed systems and trade-offs.
• Experience with debugging and operating web apps.
• Willing to participate in on-call rotation.
• US Citizen or Green Card holder

Responsibilities

• Design, build, ship and maintain the Edge caching services that serves ~35% of all Slack's API traffic and is critical to Slack’s core functionality.
• Collaborate with peers in Engineering to triage bugs and fix production issues across the stack.
• Write code to automate maintenance and reduce manual intervention
• Review code and get your code reviewed, mentor and be mentored by other engineers
• Design and build solutions to improve reliability and resilience of services
• Write, review, or provide feedback on a technical design proposal
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents.
