Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior software engineer to design, build, and maintain edge caching services that handle a significant portion of Slack's API traffic. You will collaborate across teams to triage production issues, automate maintenance, and contribute to reliability goals.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years building large-scale systems, experience with Go, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes, and a strong understanding of reliable distributed architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of professional experience building large-scale systems.
• Experience managing production infrastructure with reliability and uptime.
• Experience with distributed systems and engineering trade-offs.
• Experience solving complex issues requiring knowledge of architecture.
• Experience with unit testing, code review, design documentation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Professional experience developing and operating web applications.
• US Citizen or Green Card holder
• Experience with Go, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes; FEDRAMP/NIST is a bonus

Responsibilities

• Design, build, ship, and maintain Edge caching services serving approximately 35% of Slack's API traffic
• Collaborate with Engineering peers to triage bugs and resolve sophisticated production issues across the stack
• Write code to automate maintenance and reduce manual intervention
• Review code and participate in code reviews
• Mentor and receive mentorship from other engineers
• Design and build solutions that improve service reliability and resilience
• Write, review, and provide feedback on technical design proposals
• Participate in the team's on-call rotation
• Triage and address production issues and respond to incidents
