Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
• 6+ years building large-scale production systems.
• Experience managing critical production infrastructure, uptime and reliability.
• Experience with reliable, safe distributed systems and understanding of trade-offs.
• Experience solving complex issues requiring deep knowledge of company and architecture.
• Experience writing unit tests, code reviews, debugging, and operating web apps.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, ship and maintain Edge caching services that serve ~35% of Slack's API traffic.
• Collaborate with Engineering to triage bugs and fix production issues across the stack.
• Write code to automate maintenance and reduce manual intervention.
• Review code and mentor/receive feedback from others.
• Design and build solutions to improve reliability and resilience of services.
• Write, review, or provide feedback on technical design proposals.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents.
