Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Distributed Data Services Team. You will design, build, and maintain edge caching services that power Slack’s API traffic and core functionality, ensuring low latency and high reliability across global users.

You will collaborate with engineering peers to triage production issues, automate maintenance tasks, and participate in on-call rotations. A strong background in distributed systems, unit tests, and code reviews is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent training.
• 6+ years of experience building large-scale systems.
• Experience managing critical production infrastructure, reliability and uptime.
• Experience with reliable, safe distributed systems and engineering trade-offs.
• Experience solving complex issues requiring deep knowledge of architecture.
• Experience writing unit tests, code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, ship and maintain the Edge caching services that power Slack's API traffic.
• Collaborate with Engineering to triage bugs and fix production issues across the stack.
• Write code to automate maintenance and reduce manual intervention.
• Review code and be reviewed; mentor and be mentored by engineers.
• Improve reliability and resilience of services.
• Provide feedback on technical design proposals.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents.
