Job summary

Salesforce is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, build, and maintain the Edge caching services powering Slack's API traffic. You will collaborate with engineering peers, triage production issues, and contribute to the reliability and performance of critical backend systems.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years building large-scale distributed systems, strong testing and code-review discipline, and is ready to participate in on-call rotations. This role is based in San Francisco, CA.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field/ equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
• Experience building large-scale systems professionally for 6+ years and can point to things you've worked on.
• Experience managing critical production infrastructure with reliability and uptime and customer focus on operational safety.
• Experience with reliable, safe distributed systems and understanding of engineering and product trade-offs.
• Experience with working on complex issues requiring in-depth knowledge of the company and architecture.
• Experience with writing unit tests, code review, design docs, debugging, and operations of web apps.
• A curious, inquisitive mindset to fix things when they break.
• US Citizen or Green Card holder

Responsibilities

• Design, build, ship and maintain the Edge caching services that serve ~35% of Slack's API traffic.
• Collaborate with peers in Engineering to triage bugs and fix production issues across the stack.
• Write code to automate maintenance and reduce manual intervention.
• Review code and be reviewed, mentor and be mentored by other engineers.
• Design and build solutions to improve reliability and resilience of our services.
• Write, review, or provide feedback on a technical design proposal.
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents.
