Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC International is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Underwriter-Middle Market Focus to build and manage a profitable middle-market construction book. The role demands at least 5 years of E&S construction underwriting experience, a track record with larger, more complex contractor accounts, and strong broker development skills.

The candidate will market to brokers, grow an assigned territory with minimal supervision, and contribute to profitable book growth.

Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years of E&S construction underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting middle-market construction accounts.
• Ownership of a sizeable book of business (e.g., $3M–$5M+).
• Experience marketing to brokers and developing business relationships.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications and related documents to classify and assess risk, determine acceptability, assign rating, endorsements, limits, and pricing.
• Respond to broker inquiries within designated timeframe; serve as underwriting resource.
• Create and maintain all documentation including files, worksheets, and conversations per guidelines.
• Adhere to underwriting authority directives, guidelines, and policies.
• Approve/deniable within authority or recommend to higher authority.
• Cultivate relationships to facilitate underwriting and business development; stay abreast of industry trends.
• Serve as a resource to other staff on procedures and guidelines.
• Develop understanding of factors affecting policy rating and risk.
