Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC International seeks a Senior Construction Underwriter-Middle Market Focus to develop a profitable middle-market E&S construction book. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of E&S construction underwriting and a proven ability to grow a sizeable book of business.

You will actively market to brokers, build relationships, and grow an assigned territory with minimal supervision, making sound underwriting decisions and driving profitable growth.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of E&S construction underwriting experience
• Experience underwriting middle-market construction accounts
• Ownership of a sizeable book of business, ideally $3M–$5M+
• Experience marketing to brokers and developing business relationships
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications, classify risk, set pricing and limits
• Respond to broker inquiries within designated timeframes
• Create and maintain all underwriting files and documentation
• Adhere to underwriting authority directives and guidelines
• Approve/deny within authority or escalate as needed
• Cultivate relationships with internal and external contacts to promote business development
• Provide underwriting procedures guidance to departmental staff
• Develop understanding of factors affecting policy rating and risk
