Job summary

Estes Express Lines in South Plainfield, NJ, seeks an experienced Service Center Supervisor to lead dock teams, optimize schedules, and ensure compliant operations. You will hire and coach staff, manage KPI performance, and coordinate with center leadership to maintain efficient LTL service.

The role requires strong leadership, planning, and communication skills, willingness to work up to 50 hours weekly, and ability to lift 20 lbs. Prior LTL dock experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry; basic paperwork flow preferred.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience in LTL trucking preferred.
• Must be knowledgeable of local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, mentor and terminate employees.
• Team building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Excellent planning and organization skills.
• Proficient in AS/400 & MS Office a plus.
• Must have strong work ethic and problem solving skills.
• Willing to work 50 hours/week on average, including nights/weekends.
• Able to lift ~20 lbs. and work in various weather conditions.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Report to Operations Manager / Assistant Service Center Manager and/or Service Center Manager.
• Lead, guide and direct dock employees; set targets and monitor performance.
• Enforce understanding and compliance with all company policies and safety rules.
• Involved in hiring and termination processes.
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan as directed by the Service Center Manager.
• Responsible for meeting all KPI’s assigned.
• Daily use of company tools and processes to improve efficiency.
• Review and revise schedules to increase efficiency and reduce cost.
• Oversee equipment movement (trailers and tractors) with other supervisors/management.
• Communicate with customers via phone, fax or email.
• Oversee all dock paperwork to ensure timely handling by staff.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned as needed.
