Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Lexington, KY is seeking an electrical distribution engineer to lead a project team in designing and reviewing overhead and underground distribution systems up to 34 kV. The role includes preparing sketches, conducting calculations, building a bill of materials, estimating costs, and coordinating with clients.

This hybrid role expects three days in the office with two remote days. A ABET-accredited degree and 5+ years of utility distribution experience are required; relocation

Qualifications

• Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 5+ years of experience with electric utility distribution or related experience to review work by others.
• Familiar with design codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.
• Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34kV).
• PLS CADD experience is highly preferred.
• Able to lead a project team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare/Review construction sketches and details for overhead and underground distribution services (4 kV through 34 kV).
• Review structural analyses, short circuit and voltage drop calculations, BOM and cost estimates.
• Develop traffic control plans and permit drawings.
• Work with project teams on upstream and midstream oil and gas facility design.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and Design Reviews.
• Coordinate with client representatives for distribution design queries.
• Provide construction support and field verification of designs.
• Travel to client/vendor sites for design reviews and field verification.
• Develop work packages and support maintenance/recapitalization.
