Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to lead a project team in the design and review of distribution networks from 4 kV to 34 kV. You will prepare sketches, perform analyses, and coordinate with clients on upstream and midstream facilities.

The role requires ABET‑accredited engineering education, 5+ years in electric utility distribution, and strong communication. A hybrid work arrangement is offered with three office days per week and relocation support where applicable.

Qualifications

• This position requires a degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 5 or more years of experience with electric utility distribution or relevant experience to review work by others.
• Knowledgeable in physical distribution design methods and their application.
• Knowledgeable in applicable codes, standards, and distribution software programs including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, PoleForeman, etc.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD.
• Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34kV).
• PLS CADD experience, highly preferred.
• Strong communication skills.
• Able to lead a project team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare/Review construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services (4 kV through 34 kV).
• Perform structural analyses, short circuit and voltage drop calculations, and Bill of Materials.
• Generate cost estimates and traffic control plans or permit drawings.
• Collaborate on design of upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities with project teams.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and Design Reviews.
• Coordinate with client representatives to resolve distribution design questions.
• Analyze, design or review priority feeds and support maintenance/recapitalization of distribution components.
• Develop work packages and provide construction support; travel to client/vendor sites for reviews and field verification.
• Support career growth through Communities of Practice and process systems.
