Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Lexington, KY is seeking a senior distribution engineer to lead project teams in overhead and underground design for 4 kV through 38 kV systems. The role blends office work with field execution and requires strong technical and communication skills.

You will prepare sketches and work packages, review designs, support scoping, and coordinate with clients. A demonstrated ability to lead, mentor others, and apply codes (NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE) is essential, with hybrid work once

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in a design-related field or a 4-year non-engineering degree.
6+ years of experience in electric utility distribution.
Knowledgeable in distribution design methods and their application.
Proficient with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, PoleForeman and related software.
Familiar with NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD codes/standards.
Experience with 120/208V through 38kV distribution projects.
Strong communication skills and ability to lead a project team.

Responsibilities

Lead engineers and designers on distribution projects.
Prepare/review sketches and work packages for 4 kV through 38 kV facilities; including BOM, cost estimates, and coordination.
Perform field work as needed.
Support maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components.
Plan system modifications and oversee complex tasks.
Provide construction support and client communication.
