Job summary

IES is seeking a Department Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the assigned department, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable work aligned with company and customer expectations.

You will oversee staffing, project execution, financial performance, resource planning, quality, safety, and customer relationships, while developing the team and driving process improvements to meet department goals and delivery objectives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of supervisory or management experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications, construction, or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience serving as a primary customer contact or liaison between customers and internal teams.
• Proven ability to define project requirements, develop scopes of work, establish detailed project tasks, and manage projects through successful completion.
• Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and direct the day-to-day activities and overall performance of the assigned department.
• Recruit, hire, train, develop, and manage department personnel in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback while making recommendations related to promotions, compensation, corrective action, and employee development.
• Manage staffing levels, workload distribution, and resource allocation to support project schedules and customer requirements.
• Plan, monitor, and manage department and project financial performance, including labor, costs, budgets, and profitability.
• Oversee project scopes that may include structured cabling, AV, security, life safety, estimating, and BIM.
• Participate in and/or lead estimating, proposal, and bid activities to support new and existing business opportunities.
• Monitor project execution to ensure work meets company standards for quality, safety, productivity, and customer delivery.
• Serve as a key company liaison with customer representatives, maintaining strong relationships and addressing operational needs.
