Job summary

IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services across electrical, mechanical and telecom contracting solutions. The Department Manager leads day-to-day operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable work aligned with company and customer expectations.

This role covers staffing, project execution, financial performance, resource planning, quality, safety, and customer relationships.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of supervisory or management experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications, construction, or a related technical field.
• Experience serving as a primary customer contact or liaison between customers and internal teams.
• Proven ability to define project requirements, develop scopes of work, and manage projects to completion.
• Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Ability to lead and manage multiple direct reports (exempt and non-exempt).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project).
• Must meet driving requirements and be eligible to operate a company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and direct day-to-day department activities and performance.
• Recruit, hire, train, develop, and manage department personnel.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback; advise on promotions and actions.
• Manage staffing levels, workload distribution, and resources for projects.
• Plan and monitor department and project financial performance (labor, costs, budgets, profitability).
• Oversee project scopes including structured cabling, AV, security, life safety, BIM.
• Participate in estimating, proposals, and bids for opportunities.
• Monitor project execution for quality, safety, productivity, and delivery.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and address operational needs.
