Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer for 100% remote work from approved states. You will implement and operate data protection controls across the enterprise data estate, including encryption, access control, and labeling with platforms like Microsoft Fabric and Databricks.

You will collaborate with Security Ops, Data & Analytics, Data Governance, and IT teams, providing hands-on security support.

Qualifications

Proficiency with SQL and database security configurations.
Hands-on implementation of data protection controls and encryption management.
Experience with data governance, classification, labeling, masking, and DLP controls.

Responsibilities

Implements data protection controls across enterprise data estate, including labeling and masking.
Configures encryption for data at rest and in transit; manages keys, CMK, and vaults.
Enforces least-privilege access models and conducts entitlement reviews.
Harden security configurations for data platforms and storage services.
Embeds security controls into data ingestion, transformation, and export workflows.
Automates control deployment and compliance validation via scripting and IaC.
Creates implementation guides, runbooks, and supports secure design reviews.
Maintains strong documentation and collaboration across teams.
Demonstrates reliability in attendance and performance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
