Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement, operate, and improve controls protecting institutional data across the enterprise data estate, including Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Azure SQL. This is a 100% remote role reporting to the Deputy CISO and collaborating with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, Data Governance, and IT teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, data engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data protection controls (classification, masking, DLP) across the enterprise data estate.
• Operate encryption controls for data at rest/in transit and manage keys/secrets.
• Enforce least-privilege access (RBAC/ABAC) across data platforms and perform entitlement reviews.
• Harden security configurations for data platforms (Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, SQL Server).
• Automate control deployment and compliance validation using IaC and platform APIs.
