Job summary

Affirm is recruiting for a Data Platform Engineer to design and operate scalable data infrastructure. You will focus on the platform and applications layer, enabling teams to work with data at scale, and contribute to reliability tooling and self-service access.

Responsibilities include building core platform capabilities, secure integrations, data governance, and observability. You will collaborate across security, infrastructure, and application teams in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a cloud analytical data platform (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) with governance and cost optimization.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for building platform services.
• Experience with CI/CD, containers, and deployment automation.
• Ability to design self-service tooling for developers.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate core platform capabilities to enable data applications at scale.
• Develop integrations between the platform and internal systems for secure, self-service access.
• Strengthen data access and governance with RBAC and secure views.
• Automate toil and build self-service tooling for platform users.
• Improve observability, incident response, and runbooks for platform reliability.
• Participate in on-call coverage and platform maintenance.
• Contribute to the platform roadmap for AI-ready data tooling.
